Good Night to everyone. This is Lori. I want to share something with You all. I am sharing some thoughts and observations about the Actor who was responsible for My interest in the Performing Arts. I was only 9 Years old at the Time. The Year was 1978. The Prime-Time T.V. show at the time was the original Battlestar Galactica. This was suppsed to be the Star Wars for T.V. I was watching this astoundingly talented White haired and dark Brown Eyes Actor On-Screen. His Name was Lorne Greene. his Character was Commander Adama. Lorne was a 63 Year old man at the Time.
I was impressed and spell-bound by nonetheless. My Mom and dad thought this was very strange for their Daughter to be crazy nuts about a Actor who Grandfather age for Me at the Time. I followed the career of this amazing Actor who had a very strong, powerful Screen presence who was dignified and distinguished. He also had a very powerful deep resonating voice that was a booming baritone. He was known as The Voice of Doom/The Voice of Canada. Lorne was born in Ottawa, Ontario Canada on Feb 12th 1915.
As a Child during the late 1970's throughout the 1980's I always squeed with happiness and joy whenever Lorne's Alpo dog food commercials were shown. I also sequestered Myself in my Bedroom during the 1981-82 Television season in the USA to watch Code Red. so I could admire/appreciate Lorne's acting in peace/private. His acting was like magic for Me. When the terrible news came on September 11th 1987 that Lorne passed way from Pneumonia following heart surgery, I CRIED/BALLED my Brains out for Days. The Actor who immortalized the Character Benjamin (Ben) Cartright on Bonanza also Commander Adama was gone.
I as a Fan will always and forever miss Him.
He was one of the greatest loves of My life.
If was not for Him My interest in the Performing Arts would not exsist Today. He was a true inspiration to Me.
See all of You later, Lori
